So, I will focus my buying guide only on streaming movies.
You can buy a laptop with a smaller display but keep in mind that you should also choose a laptop with HDMI port or VGA port. With this you will be able to extend your bigger desktop monitor and enjoy movies. Also, you can connect your laptop to a projector. So, I would suggest going for smaller laptops if you have money limitations. But you can buy a laptop with the largest display if you have the ability to do so.
For streaming movies, you would not want bigger processors. Just buy a dual core processor - Core i3 from the latest generation will do just fine. But as I said, you can go on a buying spree and empty your bank account by buying Ryzen 7 or Core i9 or Apple M1.
